Targetware: 3D Dev Guide

Required Parts

You can make up your own list of parts that you want in your cockpit, it's up to you. For Target Rabaul, we model, at a minimum, the following parts:

  • seat / headrest (if present)
  • control stick or yoke
  • instrument panel (but not instruments; see below)
  • walls and floor
  • throttle quadrant (separate throttle, prop, and mixture levers if appropriate)
  • rudder pedals
  • gunsight
  • canopy bars

Target Rabaul Note:
In real life, you'd be able to see around the bars much easier than we can with our mono vision monitors. To compensate for our mono-vision, modelers are welcome to add a very slight transparency to canopy bars, particularly those that would be in view when looking up, or forward-up. 95% opacity works well for this. Do NOT make solid sheets of metal partially transparent! Only bars, which could be seen around in real life by moving head slightly.
.

Optional items that can add to the realism of a cockpit: oxygen tanks, radios, trim wheels, fuel selectors, and anything else that was in the cockpit and is visible from the pilots position.

All items modeled should be texture mapped.
