Targetware: Customizing Sound Effects

Introduction to TW Sound Effects

The Targetware engine provides a full 3D sound environment to enhance the sensation of flying powerful (and not so powerful) aircraft. Both Target Korea and Target Rabaul ship with a set of default sounds that are used for all airplanes. There are many types of sounds provided, including engine sounds, various machine gun and cannon sounds, damage-related sounds, etc. Because this is Targetware, and it's an open system, you are not limited to just these sounds.

All in-game sounds can easily by replaced by the player. Sounds, unlike other components of the flight sim, are not checked by the server when playing online. This means you can hook up any sound you like to customize your audio environment in Targetware. You can change the default sounds, to affect all airplanes, or you can change, even add, sounds to just one airplane variant.

We anticipate that players will be making available a variety of sound packs that you will be able to install into your system and use "as is." If you are using such a data pack, check the installation instructions that came with it before installing it.

If you want to make your own sounds, the first step is to make sure you are working with the right sound file format...
