Host-and-Play Mode

The easiest way to host games is to run in "Host-and-Play Mode", which means that you will be hosting a game in which you will also be logged in as a pilot. Hosting a game in this mode is extremely simple:

Start the Targetware application, then click the Host Game button.

This will open up the Mod Selection screen. Choose which Targetware Mod you wish to run and click Next.

The Scenario Selection Screen will be displayed. Choose the scenario you want to host, then click Load Scenario.

The scenario will start to load. Once it has loaded, other players will be able to see your server on the list of online servers. All you have to do is sit back and wait for them to log in.

Note: If you are behind a firewall or router, it is likely you will need to manage what ports are available. For additional setup information, please read Advanced Hosting Issues.

Changing Server Settings

While you may never need to change any settings, at some point, you may decide you want to change the name of your server, or make it so that external view is unavailable in flight, etc. These and many more settings can be changed by editing config.txt. The relevant sections are [Game] and [Server]. The text file description.txt is also worth editing to give players a way to distinguish your server from everyone else's. See the page on editing config.txt for more information.
