Any guesses as to which new aircraft is under development from these cockpit previews?

Good observation...

so what US carrier plane do we not have?

I guess... kingfisher? SB2C?

maybe it's not a carrier fighter...

Brewster Buffalo or Curtis P-36?

Glass isn't in those previews.

Somebody got it, though... Wink

It's gotta be a carrier capable aircraft otherwise whats the point in those arrestor hook controls that can be seen in the bottom right of the second image. Buffalo's where carrier aircraft though were'nt they and where used within what TC is going to entaill so yeh I'm gona say its a Brewster Buffalo as well.

Don't like the look of the Buffalo. Fat little dumpy looking things.

Yeah, they were... and they didn't fly any better than they looked, either.

Although, TC's Buffaloes have nice pits, that above ain't them... here's the British B339E version, with the green-tinted armor glass and the left side square window...

Image

And, here's the Navy F2A3 version of the Buffalo, with the visual floorport...

Image

But, for this one, looks like they did away with the zinc chromate green, for the most part...

Aye, 'tis. Sabata got it first, but wasn't very sure of himself, either.

Compare with these photos... (some of the instrumentation is modernized...I went with placement in the SB2C's manual)

Far as I can see, no attempt has ever been made in a sim to create an accurate "Beast".

Oh, I didn't even see the arrestor hook controls... I thought everyone was calling it a navy fighter by the cockpit's shade of green paint. Embarassed

Here's the exterior for the rapidly progressing "Beast", with a very preliminary skin from an Essex VB squadron. As I said, I'm not nearly finished with the weathering or the interior spaces.

Image

Image

I did learn one very valuable lesson... the raw mesh should be "skinned" with the undeveloped texture templates BEFORE the templates are edited to become the actual textures. This allows you to get VERY accurate alignment of all textures before you erase all of the surface line reference points as part of painting the texture. This way, you map all the textures and then just reassign the model's parts from the guide texture to the finished wing and fuse textures and voila, instant updates.

Slowly, I'm getting better at this... both 3D and 2D...

Of course, I still have some of my earlier work "in production," which I know I ought to re-do... but who has the time, the TIME....????

This post might be called, "Son of a B*tch, Second Draft" Very Happy

A preview of a rough Helldiver import, done over this weekend:

Image

Pit's coming along really nice (with tail gunner position, too). Although this shot isn't sporting the twin Brownings yet, nor the plane's H-Stab Wink

Image

No preview of the front pit yet, as no instrumentation is in it...

There will be 3 skins initially, this one of a mount from the Essex; one from Bunker Hill and one from the Hornet.

When you get closer (a few weeks out), give me a yell and I'll knock up a FM.

I'm a touch busy right 'now'.

Well, look who the cat dragged in!!!

Hehehe, already ahead of you on this one, Peril. I was planning to use this one as a guinea pig to learn FMing from you over Skype/GTMeeting. Since we can both make use of this crate, the actual creation helps us equally.

I'll be in touch this week (recognizing that you've said you're busy ATM)

Dunno, does he?

He started a modeling tutorial on it, and promptly stopped right after cutting windows. I assume the plane stopped at the same point.

I need a Helldiver for Leyte, and I'm not going to wait for ANYONE... produce what you say you're going to produce or get the h*ll outta the way! Smile

Delivery trumps "dibs" in my world...
