Aver the next week or so we'll be posting various screen shots of our WIP just so you can see we are still hard at it, modelling and painting.
First two are of an enhanced damage model for the Albatros D Series, these feature almost full structural sections, ribs, spars and fittings. We are looking ot make the in game experiance even better with more detail in the cockpits, more animation of guns and better instrumentation damage as well.
More items to follow. |

NICE!!!!!!!
Now can we have small holes get progressively bigger until all the fabric strips and the whole wing fails? :LOL |

Looks very good, but think about what the airflow will do to all that loose fabric. I would think that it would tear to a spar or rib and then flap about rather than lay flat - I know there's no way to model that (or is there?) just an idea though. |

Well, the damage effect has already some impact on the airfoil. The best example is Nieuport N.24, where you can easily damage you lower wings. And after that, your lift performance will decrease. |

Here is Ypres, which was the centre of fighting for most of the war.
This is the first major town/city for RS, more to follow. |

looks like something that could wrestle the FPS rate down to zero on some computers ... already had some bad experiences with the citadel in WOP |

beautiful! is so nice to see an actual city culdusac has a point about FPS though. i think it looks manageable (at least for me on dialup), though it may force some to drop the max vis to a reasonable level |

Hitboxes have a much bigger impact on FPS than polys...
So don't worry too much.
I think a planes control stick has more ploys than this city |

The city has only 4 hitboxes, one for each quarter, just due to fps impact. Number of polys can be as high as 1 million before fps goes into single figures. However we have to account for the terrain, the plane and any other models in view. So the city has been built with all this in mind. I get an of of 70 flying over the city. We'll have to see in testing what others get and adjust if required. |

errm... the maximum of my trusty old Nvidia 4200 Ti (128 mb) is at 45 over an empty map (1024x768) usually i get an avarage of 30 - 34 when flying over a normal RS map |

Here are the first views of Nieuport and Oostende
Neither cause a drop in fps, so that is good news. Just need to modify the terrain texture a little to make them stand out a bit more.
Then on to other cities, Brugge next. |

Just to keep pushing, the city and port of Brugges. It has less then 10% of the real buildings, as there is a concern over fps for lower end machines.
The submarine pens are fully modelled and thus usable to have as a spawn point for submarines. More on this later. |
