Target:Corregidor blog

Perhaps just as good a way to post news and narrative as in here.

I'll continue to do both...

Blenheim looks great Stiglr. Can't wait. Also what sorta graphics settings are you running targetware at as those two screenies for the 8th July look rather nice.

All of those are standard 1024 x 768 F2 "clean" screengrabs (all the interface stuff isn't captured) and shrunk to 512 x 384. I got a new(er) video card recently (see signature for details), so the colors do seem a bit saturated... I dunno, I kind of like it... Smile

Did you notice that nearly all of your ingame models have smoothing errors?

Last time I had a look at one TC modell, those smoothing issues were due to the whole modell being two sided, with some normals pointing to "the wrong side".

Good guess, dughor! I almost always have to do fine-tuning and selective side assignments/normal reversals with each model. There's no way to "see them" in AC3D renders.... which is why I do whole model rough imports in the first place.

Yes - you see them.
Select whole model (ctrl+a) - set one sided normals. (Button lower left -you know which one...)

If only it were that 1-click easy: Ctrl + A doesn't necessarily produce the desired results. Then you have to go in and select the canopy bars and glass surfaces and make them 2-sided. Also, that doesn't help with the joints that are perceived to be over the allowed smoothing angle... those need to be cut apart manually to make them stop "glowing" or looking darker than other surrounding surfaces. The other thing is, you might then need bulkheads within the fuse, so that you're not seeing through the interior at certain angles.

Wondering aloud... is there a max angle setting that Targetware uses for display, and can it be changed? Or, can it be noted in the graphics program, so that perhaps it will preview the shading problems before you export?

Ebola-, any input on this?
